A 46-year-old chef who falsely imprisoned, raped, and orally raped a woman he met in a nightclub in Co. Westmeath has been jailed for 8 years.
Samir Mansour – originally from Tunisia – was convicted earlier this month of the attack at Windmill Hill, Prospect, Mullingar on January 8th 2010.
He also threatened to kill his victim and poke her eyes out.
The Central Criminal Court heard the chef met the woman at a local nightspot in Mullingar.
When she told him she was gay he said he was gay too, and while she did not believe him she thought he was harmless and agreed to go to a party in his apartment.
Court told he looked “terrifying”
When she got there, he put on pornography and when she realised nobody else was coming whe went to the bathroom to phone friends but she could not get through to anyone.
As she tried to leave, he grabbed her by the arm, and flung her back into the room.
She gave evidence at the trial that his mood had changed completely and he looked “terrifying”.
“You could see the anger in his eyes and I knew something bad was going to happen.”
He raped her, orally raped her and threatened that he would poke her eye out and kill her.
He had an attack of remorse afterwards in which he cried and asked his victim if they could still be friends.
She fled the apartment and called her father at around 5am and was brought to the Sexual Assault Treatment Unit at the Rotunda Hospital in Dublin.
Attacker living in Ireland since 2001
Mr. Mansour who is a trained chef has been married twice and has no previous convictions.
He is originally from Tunisia but has been living in Ireland since 2001.
Judge Iseult O’ Malley described the ordeal as terrifying for the victim who has suffered bruising and internal injury along with flashbacks, nightmares and panic attacks.
She has imposed nine and a half year sentences on the rape charges with the final 18 months suspended.
The 46-year-old is also to undergo 5-years post release supervision if he stays in Ireland.
